07.12.2021 Titanium dioxide reduction system for powdered mixtures Back Tools Bookmark Share In October 2019, the European Commission classified titanium dioxide (TiO2) as substance with suspected carcinogenic effects by inhalation. As of October 1, 2021, it will become legally binding that powdered mixtures containing at least 1 % TiO2 particles with a particle size <= 10 µm must be marked with a warning label. In the course of this, we have developed a process that reduces the content of titanium dioxide particles with a particle size <= 10 µm in the powder coating to below 1 %. The new titanium dioxide reduction system has been investigated in detail. The TiO2-Reduction System reduces the TiO2 fine dust below 1 % with low energy input of 2 to 9 kWh/t and high throughputs of up to 1.000 kg/h. The presentation will show the development as well as test scores and operational outcome.
