The investigation of Portland cement effect on ternary systems

This study investigates the effect of ordinary Portland cement (OPC) on the mechanical and physical properties of calcium aluminate cement (CAC) based and OPC based self-levelling mortars. These mortars are composed of a ternary binder system based on OPC, CAC and calcium sulfate to provide fast set. Stabilization and characterization of the mortar performance by defining the role of the OPC in ternary systems is our main goal. For this purpose, seven different OPC samples with distinct properties are used and these are benchmarked in two recipes. According to the two paired t-test results; the dispersion diameter and setting time values has a high level of correlation with fineness and blaine values. Also, the strength values are affected by the chemical composition of OPC. With the increase of fineness; the water retention of the mortars are also increases which help to prevent the bleeding in self-levelling underlayment.
