07.04.2017 The impact of organic corrosion inhibitors on the wetting properties of coatings Back Tools Bookmark Share The use of organic based corrosion inhibitors in coatings has grown significantly over the past two decades. As opposed to inorganic corrosion inhibitors, these increase corrosion resistance primarily through improving adhesion and increasing the barrier properties of the film. By lowering the surface tension of the coating, organic based inhibitors improve the wettability and hence the adhesion to the metal substrate. Through surface tension and contact angle measurements, their ability to lower the surface tension of the final coating and improve the wettability over several substrates was analyzed. The ability of these organic based inhibitors to improve the barrier properties of the coating was analyzed by surface free energy measurements using advancing contact angles of pure liquids on coatings using a contact angle goniometer. These results were correlated with actual adhesi Duration: 20:31Speaker: Dr. Anthony ToussaintCompany: ICLConference: European Coatings Show Conference 2017 (ECS Conference)Session: Session 22: Protective coatings IILocation: NürnbergDate: 04.04.2017
