The heart of the matter - Alternative ways to achieve low gloss and soft touch UV/EB coatings

 
It can be difficult to obtain matt finishes with 100% solids UV curable coatings. Different ways of achieving this are compared, including various matting silicas, polyamide ultrafine powders and the use of excimer pre-cure to produce a 'wrinkled' surface. Good results could be obtained but were highly dependent on formulation variables.
