Temperature management in automotive industry

Nowadays, automotive manufacturers are constantly working on new solutions to offer a more comfortable in-vehicle experience. Smart solutions, namely new formulations for printed capacitive sensors, by spray-coating techniques for seamless temperature control and ventilation activation appears as an interested technique for 3D surfaces functionalization. This technique is also being used for the functionalization of polymeric surfaces with innovative formulations for thermal management improvement. Metallic additives and new nanoparticles have been synthetized for the development of transparent coatings with high infrared reflection properties. Preliminary results shows that the reflectance in the infrared region was improved up to 40% and the thermography showed a temperature reduction of around 100C. These solutions can be used for an active and passive mechanisms for temperature reduction during and after sun exposure. This work was developed in the framework of FDPanel and Vinci7D projects, both co-financed by PORTUGAL 2020, under COMPETE2020 and NORTE2020, respectively, through the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF
