31.05.2025 Sustainability aspects in powder coatings Back Tools Bookmark Share "Any metal equipment or object you look at can be coated with a powder coating. In fact, the use of powder coatings continues to grow worldwide because of their unique characteristics compared to industrial liquid coatings: they offer exceptional performance that makes them long lasting (corrosion and durability), they don't contain Volatile Organic Compounds, they limit waste during application. They seem to offer an intrinsically sustainable profile. And progress in "super durable" or "low temperature curing" technologies reinforces this image. While the appeal of sustainability in the do-it-yourself segment is now a reality, the industrial coatings market is showing the same premises that we saw for decorative and architectural markets 2 years ago, as the objective of reducing our carbon footprint is now a universal desire. We propose a review of the different approaches of sustainability for powder coatings: from "cradle to gate" to "cradle to grave" carbon footprint, from mass balance approach to use of bio-based and recycled monomers, from super-durable to low-backing temperature, we will see the impact of raw materials and energy use on product carbon footprint. Each new initiative is a step towards a more sustainable future. " Duration: 22:07Speaker: Christophe BaudeCompany: SynthomerConference: ECS Conference 2025Location: NürnbergDate: 24.03.2025
