Silicone elastomer particle dispersion - tough and more

This technology imparts the unique properties of silicone elastomer particles into coating systems as a toughening agent. These liquid core-shell particle dispersions provide an outstanding level of property improvement without any influence on network density and flexibilization. Exemplary investigations of 2-pack epoxy coatings showed property enhancement by the addition of silicone elastomer particles regarding impact resistance (up to 900%), corrosion resistance (up to 75%), and stone chip resistance (up to 300%). Additionally, the friction of the cured coating surface was dramatically reduced by these ready-to-use liquid dispersions for lower coefficient of friction (minus 90%). Due to the behavior of this unique technology the particles will deform perpendicular to the direction of incoming forces and will dissipate the energy isotropically between the core and the shell of the micron sized particles.
