07.12.2021 Resistant anti-friction coatings applicable for coil coating process Back Tools Bookmark Share Increasing awareness of environmental protection forces car manufacturers to create engines which are more efficient and environmentally friendly. Besides electrification down-sizing of engines is a common method to reach this target. As a result, materials need to withstand higher temperatures. This talk will introduce a high temperature resistant anti-friction coating (AFC) for metal gaskets e.g. exhaust manifold gaskets (EMGs) applicable for coil coating. Motor test at 600 °C revealed a sufficient sealing and anti-seizing property of coated EMGs fulfilling the current EURO 6 emission specifications. The second part of this talk is dedicated to an anti-friction coating with outstanding wear resistance to increase durability of coated parts and help meet sustainability mandates. This coating closes the gap in terms of wear resistance between traditional AFCs and vapor deposition coatings e.g. diamond-like carbon (DLC) and still provides a simple processability via screen printing or coil coating.
