22.10.2024 Reducing the carbon footprint of dry-mix mortars with Ecocem low carbon binders and additive technologies Back Tools Bookmark Share High grade Ground Granulated Blast Furnace Slag (GGBS) designed to be used as a special additive in formulations for industrial mortars, UHPC, and precast concretes. High grade GGBS, obtained by a dedicated grinding process of Slag (GBS), enables a reduction in the CO2 footprint of building materials and improves the rheology, strength, and durability of products, thanks to its improved particle size distribution and its higher chemical reactivity. This technology contains no Cr VI and has a low pH, making it a safe and effective additive for formulations, especially for hand applicated mortars. The new grade enables the formulation of highly technical products like low-carbon tile adhesives by improving early age strength, higher water resistance, the flexibility, and the durability by reducing carbonation of the thin layer application. This product also brings improved properties in SLU-applications as the Superfine GGBS addition can improve the mechanical strength of this application, while the esthetical finish of the SLU is smoother. Finally, through the advantages of this technology, the high grade GGBS clearly shows its added value in the world of the technical mortars.
