Recent progress on bio-based polyurethane coatings

 
Covestro is working on sustainable solutions to the greatest challenges of our age following the PPP principle (People-Planet-Profit). Because of the outstanding quality and high variability of property profile of formed coatings, polyurethane coatings have been well accepted and widely applied in various industrial applications, such as automotive, furniture, sports and leisure, etc. During the talk, our recent progresses on development and studies of bio-based chemicals as sustainable building blocks for polyurethane coatings will be shown as well as how sustainability inspires our innovation strategy. Focus will be set on how to achieve new and unexpected technical properties using bio-based materials. We will present case studies conducted in collaboration with our customers of the new bio-based products and will give an outlook on planned activities.
