The combination of both raw materials in formulations to unite their advantages however was not yet possible because of incompatibilities of these systems. This paper describes that hybrid block-copolymers based on polybutadienes and polyesters can circumvent this incompatibility: These hybrid systems can act as a compatibility adjustor between polyester and polybutadiene systems. This results in a stable incorporation of e.g. polybutadienes in polyester-based formulations and vice versa. The paper also describes that these new hybrid copolymers combine their positive properties and offer new possibilities for various applications, for instance improved adhesion properties on oily substrates of in 2K PU formulations.
