07.04.2017 Polyamide-based polyurethanes for coating applications Back Tools Bookmark Share Novel polyamide-based polyurethane/urea coatings comprising urethane hard segments and polyamide soft segments will be discussed. A broad range of polyamide polyols designed with a balance of key molecular features was found to be applicable for various waterborne and solventborne urethane technologies. Earlier we showed that in comparison with polyether, polyester or polycarbonate based urethanes, polyamide urethanes have high hydrolytic and thermal stability and show excellent barrier properties and durability. We found that our polyamide-based technology is uniquely suited to several demanding coating applications and we are now reporting the in depth performance characteristics of polyamide urethanes in metal and wood coating applications. The feasibility of this technology in surface modifiers, masonry coatings and in high temperature applications will also be discussed.
