17.05.2019 Paint it black: Designing the ultimate dispersant for high-jetness coatings Back Tools Bookmark Share Carbon black remains one of the most important pigments in the automotive industry and in inks including UV curable inks. It can be a challenging pigment to formulate with, due to the strong link between quality of dispersion and the coloristic properties of the resultant coating. Dispersion is influenced by the pigment?s complex structure, high surface area and, dependent on the surface oxidation level, the lack of functional groups. At Lubrizol we have studied the dispersion of different carbon blacks in a number of coating systems, enabling us to optimise our single- and multi-anchor dispersants for use in environmentally friendly UV and water-based systems. Our anchoring chemistry helps produce exceptionally stable high quality carbon black dispersions. We demonstrate that our novel dispersants can significantly boost jetness of commercial carbon black pigm Duration: 22:25Speaker: Andrew ShooterCompany: LubrizolConference: ECS Conference 2019Session: Dispersind technologyLocation: NürnbergDate: 18.03.2019
