04.04.2016 One component waterborne coating system developments for industrial furniture applications Back Tools Bookmark Share Waterborne one-component acrylic systems have grown in popularity with furniture paint applicators in the last years. This has been mainly possible due to the increase in performance of waterborne acrylic systems, in particular on hardness development and improvements in early block resistance. One major area where further performance improvements were required was the chemical resistance especially to aggressive solvents and highly staining chemicals that for long could only be achieved with two-component systems. This paper will illustrate how the development of a new generation of 1K resins makes it now possible to formulate coating systems with improved chemical resistance to alcohol and coffee in both clear and pigmented systems while maintaining good hardness development as well as early block, needed for high coating application line speeds.
