06.11.2024 Novel RT curable silicone resin emulsions for high temperature coatings - toward improved durability and EHS profile Back Tools Bookmark Share High temperature resistant coatings find applications in many industries. Among these applications, coatings for stoves, exhaust and industrial pipes are prominent examples. In this market dominated by solventborne systems due to their performance, there is a clear market need for more environmentally friendly solutions. For this reason, the development of water-borne high temperature resistant coatings is more and more investigated - the challenge of this route consisting in securing a competitive performance profile in comparison to solventborne coatings. Silicone resins can be used as film-forming binders and provide a unique resistance to high temperatures (up to 600°C). The performance profile of these systems is largely influenced by the composition of the silicone resin. But it is also dependent on the quality of the film formation, the level of cure and the formulation of the paint. In this work, we will report recent progress in the development of a novel silicone-based WB resin for coatings resistant to high temperature (and the development of the related paint formulation), delivering better high temperature resistance and EHS profile in comparison to existing solutions.
