Novel raw material concept to improve key properties of water-based paint & coating films

 
Continuously working towards the best possible raw material package is key for every formulator of paints and coatings. In this regard, KRONOS and Alberdingk started a joint project to improve the stain resistance of wood and architectural coatings in order to boost the resistance level of water based 1pack systems to meet the level of solvent borne two-pack coatings. In our joint presentation, we will give evidence that it is possible to achieve significant improvements in stain resistance (e.g., coffee) when using a tuned chemical approach based on selected binder systems, additives and an optimised titanium dioxide pigment.
