18.05.2017 New advances in water-based radiation curable compositions for food contact application Back Tools Bookmark Share Waterborne radiation-curable technology presents major benefits for (in)direct food contact applications by escaping hazard labeling and minimizing the presence of low molecular weight chemicals apart from regulatory-compliant aids of polymerization. We developed a chemical concept bringing high molecular weight species with high functionality to an unexpectedly high level. These very reactive products offer cured coatings with superior mechanical & chemical resistance and excellent adhesion to plastics. They are particularly suitable for food contact applications as illustrated by comprehensive migration tests in the light of existing regulations. They find a particular interest in a new generation of low-viscous (digital) inks and overprint varnishes where re-dispersibility in water is appreciated.
