New advancements in artificial weathering testing instruments

Desirable characteristics of artificial weathering test instruments include: matching the outdoor test environment as closely as possible to induce the same degradation mechanisms, independent control over test parameters to promote accelerated change, and uniform test conditions to provide the best repeatability and reproducibility. Recent advancements in the design and control of artificial weathering instruments meet these characteristics more closely than ever before. New optical filters used with xenon-arc light sources offer the closest match to natural sunlight. New chamber design and sensor technology have been developed to provide better uniformity of test conditions throughout the entire exposure area. All common weathering parameters can now be measured and controlled at the sample exposure plane, giving the user more precise and accurate information about exposure conditions.
