Meeting Auto OEM clear coat specifications with 2K systems despite extended cure window requirements for electric vehicles

Electric vehicles require extra thickness/stiffness in certain zones of the bodywork to protect batteries in case of an accident. The thickness variations can result in areas with overcuring or undercuring that might impact coating properties. A two-component (2K) clear coat formulated with a new polyester resin technology was evaluated under wide curing conditions to address performance requirements under automotive OEM specifications (e.g., car wash testing, chemical resistance, hardness, steam jet, and stone chipping).
