Matte powder coatings in one shot application

 
In order to reach the UN Sustainable Development Goals, there is an increasing need for more environmental friendly coating systems. This creates a welcome opportunity for powder coatings as they are solvent free and have a low carbon footprint. In combination with a global trend towards low gloss coating appearances a portfolio of acid functional matte powder coatings is developed. This portfolio includes (low temperature cure) dry-blend systems as well as one-shot systems being suitable for various applications. Detailed progress and results, with a focus on the one-shot-matte systems, will be presented regarding gloss stable robust matte formulations as developed by DSM. Also, insights regarding the mechanism of matting in powder coatings will be shown.
