Materials for erosion protection - elastomeric coatings for leading edge protection

 
The project Carbo4Power addresses the development of a new generation of lightweight, high strength, multifunctional, digitalised multi-materials for offshore wind and tidal turbine rotor blades (supported by the European Union under the HORIZON2020 Framework Programme Grant Agreement no. 953192). As part of the project, elastomeric erosion protection coatings are under development that have shown promising rain erosion test results in rotating arm tests at ORE Catapult Project results will be presented on the effects of the coating composition on bulk material properties, correlated to the rain erosion resistance.
