02.10.2024 Investigation of multi-tasking redispersible powder coating Back Tools Bookmark Share Humans have been leaving their imprint through the medium of painting since the Stone Age, and the skills they developed then are still in use today. Paints were prepared by mixing the pigments obtained from nature. As technology advances and polymers become more prevalent in our daily lives, so does the technology utilized in paint. Consumption of water-based paints was favored through time when solvent-based paints were proven to induce varying harmful effects. Production of powder coatings is a significant step in the decorative paint industry, especially due to the fact that environmental protection and sustainability are two of the most global and prioritized challenges in the world. A powder paint formulation can offer multiple functions, as a primer, paint and putty. Key benefits of powder coatings are: absence of TiO2, volatile organic compounds, biocides, and water, so a smaller carbon and water footprint. In addition, being suitable for coloring and performing multiple functions is a significant step forward for the industry. Raw materials characterized via FTIR and XRD. In addition to instrumental analyzes, evaluations of physical properties were conducted.
