CeNTI is an Institute of New Technologies with multi-sectorial orientation that promotes activities of R&D, Innovation and Engineering in the fields of smart and functional materials and systems, in a nano4industry approach among others, the area of functional materials aims the development of innovative and functional formulations - bio-based, water based or 100% reactive formulations for UV (photopolymerization) or thermal curing - and the surface functionalization using wet-coating technologies, to achieve innovative functional properties in a multiplicity of rigid and flexible substrates (cork, wood, metal, plastics, glass, ceramics, textiles, etc.). In particular, the developments follow a sustainable and eco-design approach, focusing on eco-sustainable materials and eco-sustainable processes, such as atmospheric plasma treatment and ultrasonic spray deposition, which aims to minimize the impact on resources. Odour retention, easy-cleaning properties, thermal and moisture management, enhanced grip, changing colour effects, anti-fingerprint, biocoloration, among others, are examples of functionalities that we have been exploring.
