07.04.2017 Hydrophobic spray elastomers based on novel polymer withstanding harsh chemical environments Back Tools Bookmark Share Urethane spray elastomers display high crack bridging, strong adhesion to steel, concrete, wood or geotextiles and rapid curing minimizing facility downtime. As application fields continuously grow, a market need arises for elastomeric coatings withstanding demanding conditions, namely exposure to concentrated acids, caustics, and organic media. Applied technologies such as epoxy are generally brittle, non-crack-bridging and the significantly slower curing time results in high facility downtimes. Recently we developed hydrophobic spray elastomers based on a novel polymer backbone meeting protective coating requirements under harsh chemical conditions. Development and performance properties are presented and contrasted with incumbent solutions including selected studies in industrial environments, also addressing needs such as primer-less coating or in membrane service repair.
