How to win a gold medal with fire retardant coatings

 
Sustainability is more than just a political principle. It is a driver of innovation which makes social advancement possible. Sustainability increasingly becomes a philosophy of life and lifestyle. Therefore our aim was to develop a fire protection system which fulfills the special requirements of DGNB (German Sustainable Building Council) for exterior applications. Our solution is a solvent free, quick drying two-component coating based on epoxides - it is named Sika Unitherm Platinum. This fire retardant coating, which was recently awarded with a gold medal, prolongs the fire resistance of steel constructions like beams and columns as well as exterior building fronts.
