Formulations with 'cool' pigments for facade coating

Overheat in building can be avoided by selecting an appropriate facade coating, which will reflect the sun radiation. This is necessary in order to decrease the energy consumption of buildings. Since a few years it exists a new generation of so-called cool coatings with the particularity that they reflect the sunlight in the near infrared range (NIR) of the solar spectrum. Therefore providing coatings with identic colours but that will lead to different surface temperature because of the increased reflectance in the NIR. We studied the efficiency of those pigments according to their size and composition at different PVC. We will here present a methodology to quickly screen pigment and formulations.
