26.01.2024 Exploration into the benefits anchieved when using polycaprolactone based polyols in 2K polyurethane coatings Back Tools Bookmark Share Polycaprolactone (PCL) polyols can be formulated alongside other components in 1 & 2K coatings. PCL based polyols are 100% solid content which can help produce high solids coatings and ultra-low VOC coatings. The unique chemistry of these polyols promotes their use in many different coating applications, on a variety of different substrates. This study will explore the performance characteristics achieved when low molecular weight PCL tri-functional and tetra-functional polyols are blended with other hydroxyl functional components in 2K coatings. This study shows how they can be used to achieve more sustainable coatings, along with the added benefits to the durability of a coating. The ability of low molecular weight PCL polyols to increase crosslinking within the coating layer and subsequently improve the performance of a coating system will be discussed.
