Enviromentally benign and effective flame protecting impregnation liquid and coating

 
The environmental behaviour of flame retardants has been studied since the 1990ies. Mainly brominated flame retardants were found in many environmental compartments and also humans, and some individual substance were found to have toxic properties. Therefore, alternatives have been demanded by authorities, nongovernmental organisations and manufacturers using FRs in their products. The presentation will give an overview of the current state of the assessments of alternatives and the ongoing environmental discussion. The impact on the overall FR market and recent trends will also be covered.
