17.05.2019 Empirical study of the impact of TiO2 on the weathering of powder coat Back Tools Bookmark Share Titanium dioxide pigments play an important role in protecting white and light colored paints against the influences of weathering. Careful design of the pigment enables optimal protection and guarantees maximum lifetime of the coating. Results from our most recent exposure study underline the importance of choosing the right measurement technique to study weathering influences for the reliable development of high quality and durable coatings. Accelerated weathering methods often lead to the wrong conclusions. This study, in collaboration with a global resin supplier (DSM), evaluates in detail the different mechanisms behind paint (specifically powder coat) degradation in order to better understand the mechanisms leading to these differences.
