Waterborne dispersed polymers are the green alternative to solventbased systems. The replacement of petroleum-based monomers by renewable resources is the other green approach. In this talk I will describe the use of several biobased monomers to synthesize novel waterborne polymeric materials for coating applications. Different approaches to produce bio-based monomers able to undergo free radical polymerization will be presented as well as the polymer synthesis via emulsion and miniemulsion polymerization. Finally, some examples of their incorporation into paints will be exposed Duration: 27:28Speaker: Monica MorenoCompany: University of the Basque CountryConference: European Coatings CONFERENCESession: Decorative CoatingsLocation: DüsseldorfDate: 22.06.2015
