An increase in market demand for vibrant colors in WB performance coatings to match those of SB systems has been observed in the recent years. To meet such demands, unique high molecular weight polyurethane dispersants were engineered to provide the ultimate color development with both organic and high-jetness carbon black pigments in waterborne performance coatings. Dispersants were designed to have an electron-rich body with a variety of functional side chains, engineered to be compatible with a wide range of binder systems. Our unique polymer engineering allows for enhanced adsorption to the sparsely functional, yet electron-rich surface of organic and carbon black pigments. The enhanced pigment-dispersant interactions of these dispersants are clearly evident during the early stages of the grinding process, leading to lower viscosities and stronger mass tones and higher jetness.
