07.12.2021 Design of (optical) sensors for quality IOT projects in coating applications Back Tools Bookmark Share Today's production processes are on a very high level of automization but inline quality control has still to be embedded to a huge number of use cases. The standard statistical approach to use mainly "mean value" properties for selecting and placing sensors has its limits on increasingly complex geometries. Often concepts focussing on a high degree of robotic use fail due to high cost and maintenance levels. Further on "big data" constraints influence many aspects of sensor design and implementation to less complex designs but much more intelligent evaluation. We will give an overview on future concepts and components to fit the needs of quality control tasks especially coating thickness measurements. We will also present fundamentals on how modern sensors and data processing components cooperate with one another to minimize calibration procedures and the technical requirements for intelligent IIOT sensors, to allow the above displayed concepts.
