08.11.2024 Decoat - eco-design tool Back Tools Bookmark Share Decoat is a Horizon2020 project which aims to enable the circular use of coated textiles and plastic parts that are typically not yet recyclable. The project focuses on the development of debonding solutions to remove a product's coating at the end of the product's life. This is done via the activation of a triggerable primer or via solvation of the coating. To enable industries to assess the potential benefits and limitations of implementing the Decoat solutions in their product lines, the project is developing an Eco-Design tool. The tool examines a set of datapoints about the product in question, and matches this input with the most compatible Decoat solution. Next, qualitative and quantitative guidance on the matched solution is provided, describing the environmental, economic, circularity, and safety aspects. The advice provided by the tool combines both Life Cycle Analysis and Life Cycle Costing, while integrating the expertise of all Decoat partners. The presentation will focus on the journey of the consortium, the methodology used to develop the Eco-Design tool, and the opportunities for industries to implement the Decoat solutions within their Eco-Design strategies. Life cycle analysis, life cycle costing, in combination with the expertise from all the Decoat-partners are integrated into the advice generated by the tool. The presentation will focus on the journey of the consortium, the methodology used to develop the tool as well as on the opportunities for industries to implement the Decoat solutions in their Eco-Design strategies.
