Coatings for facade materials

 
Wood-plastic composites (WPCs) are increasingly used in exterior architectural applications. However, many contain polyethylene or polypropylene, which offer very poor paint adhesion. A process which involves flame or corona pretreatment followed by application of a waterbased solution of chemicals forming molecular brushes is shown to provide excellent adhesion.
