Calcium sulpho aluminate cement - choosing the right source of sulphate

 
An increased interest is shown by the dry-mix industry in the use and application of so called CSA cements. More and more high technical mortars have been developed over the past years based on CSA technology. Depending on the type of CSA cement these are used as straight binder or as an additive in a cement matrix.In order to achieve the desired performance it proofs to be eminent to choose the right source of calcium sulphate. Moreover when CSA ground clinker is blended in a Portlandcement matrix the source and amount of sulphate used in retarding the setting of it plays an important role in the final outcome of the binder.Other factors needed to be taken into account are C3A content and amount of free lime released by the Portlandcement on hydration.In this paper an in-depth analysis is made of above mentioned factors and is shown which result can be expected using different kinds
