Bio synergies in water-based coatings

 
In a recent study, incorporation of both Exilva MFC, as a rheology modifier, and a LS, as a dispersant, into a commercial water-based acrylic spray primer has been performed at Borregaard AS. Both of these bio-based additives replaced the commercial primers synthetic rheology modifiers and dispersant. This novel water-based primer containing both Exilva MFC and LS was analysed in five main areas: colour difference, sag-resistance, formulation stability, hiding-power, and gloss. These were then compared to the commercial primer.
