Advances in the overspray-free digital application of polyurethane based coatings and adhesives

 
Digital printing is increasingly developing into an alternative application technology for coatings and adhesives. Benefits are obvious: no overspray, automation and the possibility to customize properties on a dot-per-dot scale, only to name a few. Reasons why overspray-free digital application of coatings and adhesives are still in the development phase are related to the different material demands of readily available digital applicators (Piezo-Inkjet, Valvejet, Hotmelt-Fused Filament Fabrication). In this talk we give an overview of different overspray-free application methods and their demands on PU-based coating and adhesive raw materials. Practical examples, challenges and opportunities will be shown and discussed.
