Advances in low free polymer urethanes prepolymers for stable 2K UV stable, high performance protective coatings

 
This work outlines how low free monomer prepolymers can be utilised for the formulation of 2K low viscosity and solvent free coatings, due to their reactivity and handling characteristics. The study illustrates how modifications to the prepolymer backbone influence mechanical properties, flexibility, impact resistance, thermal characteristics. Additionally, the 100% solid, VOC free prepolymers can be applied as high film build coatings which can improve efficiencies in application, and help to reduce downtime where maintenance costs can be high.
