A shrinkage-free industrial flooring system using a novel, eco-friendly binder

A novel, Eco-Friendly binder system has been developed to solve the problem of shrinkage of mineral based flooring mortar. The mortar achieves shrinkage of < 0.1 mm/m by combining latent hydraulic and pozzolanic raw materials with special additives. The combination of these secondary raw materials allows the reduction of cement below 5% which enables the binder system to be named as an ecological and environmental friendly product. Further no hazardous activators like alkaline or sulphates were used to activate the latent hydraulic and pozzolanic raw materials so that calcium silicate hydrates (CSH) crystal but no calcium hydroxide are formed. The resulting CSH matrix allows the usage of the flooring mortar in salt water areas and in addition provides better chemical resistance, no efflorescence, freeze-thaw resistance, abrasion resistance and adhesion then cements based materials because of the calcium hydroxide free matrix and enables nearly shrinkage free flooring with outstanding properties.
