A novel approach to support the sustainable use of DCOIT as a dry film preservative

The regulatory framework continues to evolve and challenge the status quo of dry film preservation in the paints industry. The BPR active substance and product authorisations are examples that each represent the continued need for change and re-design of the dry film preservation systems to meet the needs of the market. This paper will overview the latest regulatory dynamics for DCOIT, one key dry film active substance, which is under review for the approval under the BPR as an active substance for product type 7. As part of our review as an active substance and biocidal product supplier we will present a novel approach for measuring skin sensitization potential in a paint and the latest DCOIT technologies to decrease sensitization risk and therefore address the challenges of both the BPR and industry to the sustainable use of dry film products in paints.
