Intrinsic Self-Healing Coatings

Microcracks caused by mechanical stress or thermal fatigue in polymers can lead to material failures. Self-healing polymers offer the ability to heal microcracks and other damage autonomously or after application of an external stimulus (e.g. heat, pressure or UV-irradiation), thereby maintaining the properties and prolonging the lifetime of the components.
