In their June 2023 paper in Progress in Organic Coatings, Yibin Liu et al., simulated nepenthes and prepared porous polyurethane films through phase inversion method to fabricate slippery liquid infused porous surface (SLIPS). Nepenthes, also referred to as tropical pitcher plants, are carnivorous and the genus includes about 170 species as well as numerous natural and many cultivated hybrids. The greatest diversity occurs on Borneo, Sumatra, and the Philippines.
