Lignins are biopolymers that are embedded in the cell wall and thus cause lignification in plants. Only with lignin the formation of larger plant bodies is possible. The evolution of plants has influenced it decisively. Klein et al. used Kraft lignins for polyurethane coatings in their study. The coatings produced are not only sustainable, but show high flexibility and transparency.
