We have developed hydrophobic acrylic emulsions, achieved by increasing the hydrophobicity of the polymer composition in the aqueous phase. This class of emulsion polymers offers excellent water and alkali resistance as well as water-whitening resistance and can therefore significantly improve barrier properties and exterior durability of waterborne paints and waterproofing products.
