Sustainability awareness, legislation and customer requirements are dictating trends in industrial development, and the relatively conservative coating segment is no exception. This article looks at using sustainable bio-based materials to produce coatings with a lower carbon footprint. Although bio-based aliphatic polyols and polyacids are increasingly common, aromatic monomers are still a challenge.
