LESS YELLOWING IN SILICONE COATINGS

Numerous applications have already been developed for polycarbonate (PC) on account of its excellent optical and physical properties. However, its low surface hardness and poor scratch resistance are its most criticised shortcomings. In recent years, various types of research have been conducted on transparent silicone-modified coatings with a view to improving the scratch resistance of polycarbonate panels. Owing to the easy availability of the raw materials, excellent abrasion resistance, great outdoor durability and high transparency, transparent silicone-modified resins are usually employed in sealants and coatings, are commonly applied to optical lenses, goggles, helmets, lamps, and dashboards for automobiles, helicopters, airplanes, ...
