Coating systems based on renewable raw materials (RRMs) are still a niche product. As a result of the ever-increasing CO2 price and the desire to avoid petroleumbased products, there has been a sharp increase in research and development work in this field in recent years. In the field of polyurethane chemistry, especially, there is a desire, in addition to sustainability, to avoid hazardous substances, such as phosgene and isocyanates.
