While touching, fingertips can detect structures of down to very few microns. Due to their structures those surfaces reflect the light scattered and appear deep matt. Deep matt soft-touch coatings can appear as contrast and are used frequently for upgrading products with haptic effects. The commercial availability was mostly limited to solvent based or two component based systems. Disadvantages of those systems are deficient scratch and chemical resistance and "polishing" when scratched.
