Wet opacity is an essential property for many coatings applications and is a growing concern in the case of formulations with reduced titanium dioxide content. No specific test method for measuring it in the early stages of film drying exists in the literature. More commonly, trained decorators conduct 'real life' application tests of the coating over black substrates to assess whether wet coverage of the coating is good or poor. Our company has developed a method for assessing its current and new performance minerals that are designed for low- and zero-titanium dioxide architectural coatings. ...
