PINHOLE FREE SMOOTHER FINISHING ON MDF

The formation of pinholes on powder coatings caused by outgassing of medium density fibreboard (MDF) has been studied. A novel stoving method called asynchronous heat-curing has been developed to prevent pinhole formation when using a low-temperature curing powder coating. Powder coatings traditionally require high temperatures to cure after they are applied to a substrate. For years there has been a clear trend toward reduced curing temperatures.
